Writing

So, about time for another post.

Been trying to get back into the spirit of writing, sitting down at my computer and resisting the urge to load up World of Warcraft.  It’s been difficult for me as I always look at what I’ve written and think it’s garbage.  Perhaps that’s the best way to look at it, for it encourages me to improve.  But when I look at a page and decide it’s not good, it can be tough to get motivated to continue.

Zai loves the writing, but of course she would.  When I wrote the first installment of the Crusader (after a rewrite thanks to the incredible advice of one Julie Scott), it received positive reviews, but for some reason, I still wonder.  Also, for those curious, the reason I haven’t continued the series is because I used to think the plot was unique, but have been seeing things on TV that go along a similar line.  It’s discouraging… but hopefully I’ll overcome that and continue it sometime in the future.

In the meantime, I decided to begin posting my recent fantasy writings on my forum, viewable by a select group of people I trust enough not to steal and redistribute my ideas.  I went with this because I could post installments under a topic, and have people comment on them.

Also, the fact that I’ve been running D&D regularly again is beginning to spark my creativity.  I’m beginning to feel like I used to back in my college days, when every spare thought was devoted to some character or some event in that fantasy world I created.  I’ve been scribbling down notes and mapping the world out again.  Drawing a map is harder than I would have thought, trying to get scale and climate down… I should have majored in cartography.

Zel-kun out.

Now that my studio is cleaned out, hopefully you can get a proper map illustration out of me!
