Bicycle
Posted by Zel-kun on October 31st, 2008 filed in Random BitsIn the early hours of the morning, just after 6:00am, I closed my apartment door. I then opened it again and retrieved my bag, and THEN began the walk downstairs. I opened the inner front door, and was about to push the heavy glass and steel outer door when something flew by mere inches from the door.
It was a bicycle, and it was one second short of crashing into the steel door as I opened it. I can’t see anything from my hallway, only the sidewalk directly in front of me, there was no way I could have seen him coming. That bicyclist was one second away from being badly hurt.
I know I mentioned it before, but it’s amazing how sometimes, one second can be the line that seperates the mundane from a disaster. What would have happened if I DIDN’T forget my bag? Would I have slammed the door right into the oncoming bicyclist? It’s definitely possible.
One second.
Sometimes that’s all it takes.
Zel-kun out.
