Title: GU Comics
Genre: Gaming/Humor
Author: Woody Hearn
Artwork: 8/10
Humor: 6/10
Story: N/A

Quotable: The ultimate gag-a-day about MMO’s.

GU is a gag a day comic about gaming. More specifically, its a comic geared towards online gaming. To those that are familiar with MMORPG’s such as WoW and EQ will be right at home with this comic, whereas others may be a bit lost.
This comic is serviceable. There are days where I chuckle, and there are a few pieces of absolute gold. But many comics just had me clicking the next button with a half-hearted ‘meh.’ All in all, I’d say its worth a look for any online gamer. For non-gamers, you can pass this one and not miss anything.

Title: Jackie’s Fridge
Genre: Humor
Author: BJ Hornsby
Artwork: 7/10
Humor: 7/10
Story: 7/10

Quotable: Humorous and heartwarming, with an evil gerbil for good measure.

Jackie’s Fridge (now defunct), was once one of my favorite comics. I used to check up on it every couple days, and read a fairly amusing update about the goofy interactions of a group of friends in a small everyday town. The world of Jackie’s Fridge (named for her talking fridge, btw) is an idealistic little community most of the time. The men have a sense of honor and chivalry to them. There’s a noted lack of anger and hatred, which can truly be refreshing. The comedy is charming, and the characters tend to stay just under the ‘cute’ line.

What kept my interest was that under this pristine surface, seemed to bubble a cauldron of despair. That beneath the smiles and laughter, characters were torn by their own emotions. This kept me glued to the strip, because you sometimes got a brief glimpse into that dark world. And as soon as you glimpse it, its gone, replaced by that happy blanket.

I say everything in past tense because it seems the artist has abandoned his webcomic, which truly is a shame. I would still heartily recommend reading through the archives, and seeing how the comic evolves, often with commentary by the artist.
