Loli…
Sometimes the internet can be a scary place. The internet is like a gigantic flea market in the darkest slum imaginable, people hawking at you, some of them with legitimate businesses, some with scams, and still others just screaming at you for the hell of it. You listen to these people, many of them crazy, hearing what they have to say, laughing at some of it, interested at some of it, and curious about others.
So, when I was on a manga site, and read the words, “Fans of lolicon, click here!” I think to myself, “What in the heck is lolicon?” So I click, and am greeted by bizarre anime clips thrown together and remixed. Included in this it a scene of a giant cat chasing around a couple people in a circle while Benny Hill music plays. Being a fan of weird stuff, this made me chuckle. So I figured, “This is lolicon, its somewhat entertaining.” The message at the top of the site (which shall remain nameless), proclaimed that most of the site was broken, and these bits of animation were placeholders in the meantime.
All right, so I click back now and again, each time greeted by new bits of animation, one being a girl spinning amidst a backdrop of various cheeses, another some weird flash having a bunch of anthropomorphic cats fighting in some dark city, and then finally the site is restored…
Oh my freaking lord….
Now, I’m an open-minded man. I have seen, and enjoyed things people think are bizarre. Hell, I’ve laughed at the downright taboo in society (I DO enjoy South Park, after all). But this… this…
And apparently, it has a healthy (there’s an ironic word) cult following on the internet. It just blows my mind.
So, what is it? What is this thing known as lolicon? I’ll tell you. I’m sure my readers have heard of hentai. Well, lolicon is basically hentai with little girls. Really little girls. Like… seven and eight. I think what bounces in my head the most is the fact that after perusing some communities is that this is generally acceptable.
I think the scariest thing of all is that my mere mention of this thing will have many people finding my site by looking for loli. Its like when I mentioned the commercial for Wendy’s, I STILL get spam comments on that post.
Well, time to go scour my eyeballs with abrasive soap.
Zel-kun out.
