I had lunch with Sean from TekSystems today, its pretty good to be back with the company. Anyone that buys me a meal is okay in my book. And over quesadillas and empanadas we discussed possible business opportunities. Its seems I may have some good fortune coming my way, there may be some more jobs available after this one. Oddly enough, one job available might be my old job at Nalco.
I have mixed feelings about this. Of course, I’m happy because that would definitely mean some more steady work heading my way, but its not as technical a job as I would like. But if its offered, I’ll definitely take it. I’ve done worse things for a living and gotten paid less for it. As much as I love not doing anything for a living, I love not feeling like an unemployed loser even more, so I’ll take the bad with the good.
Well, that’s it for now.
Zel-kun out.

I have long stretches of nothing with my current gig, filled in with writing when things are chill. It’s an odd sensation… it’s great to have that time, but you know the bank account is running down like the 24 timer…

Wait. That runs up. Crap.

A bank account that goes up as you do nothing…
Sign me the hell up for one of those!

You just need about ten mil…

Screw the ten mil, I want an account like that now! I mean, even with me getting a job–my feet still aren’t quite used to me standing on them for 5 hours straight again–our account stays perilously low after bills are paid. But, I guess I should be thankful that the bills are getting paid.
And speaking of which, good luck on getting the Nalco job and keeping your bills paid Jon-kun.

Only 5 hours? Light-weight.
And thanks for the well-wishes. I’m usually doing okay with money because I’m always saving and preparing for when a contract might end. IT is a fickle business here in the midwest.

Oh come on Jon, you know how small I am! Of course I’m a light weight! Besides, I haven’t worked in over a year. My feet are out of condition. Give me a couple more weeks and it’ll be all good.
And if IT is so fickle there, then kidnap Zai, and the two of you come live out here where I’m sure it’s less fickle. If nothing else, perhaps you could get a job with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. We could really use a friendly Geek Squader right now.

Hahaha! Yeah, that’s a good one there! I want to go back into the retail world AND wear a tie, and make $8.00 an hour! Whew!
*wipes tears of laughter*
Actually, IT tends to be more stable the further west you go. If I really intended on leaving sweet home Chicago, I’d probably head out to California.
But even if it is a fickle industry out here, I have more money and am happier than I’ve been in years. Even if I were to only work a day and a half a week, I’d still be making more than I ever did in retail.

Geek Squad is retail?
Paul | 23-May-06 at 6:13 am | Permalink
Yes it is retail because it is still at best buy and it still deals with every day public idoits. I can say that here because anyone that is smart enough to read here is excluded from the afore mentioned group. I like IT work but I’ll keep making the money where I’m at but the best of luck on a secure line of work. And just how did you guys (and/or Girls) get to bank accounts that count up thats just silly.
