I just watched the movie ‘Waiting.’ Its about a bunch of people working in a restaurant. As a 5-year veteran of retail service, I can relate. I strongly recomend this movie to anyone who isn’t easily grossed out.
Also, I updated both the Hall of Fame and Hall of Shame.

Hey, we’re on the same page with those last two additions. I think that partifular FF may be my favorite video game ever. So epic and engrossing… characters dying, kingoms being razed, giant robots battling tanks driven by Dwarves…. you even start out as a bad guy and become the One True Hero. Great stuff.
I’ll also agree on Arcanum: so much potential, but it fell short in some ways. One thing that annoyed me was how I obsessively hunted down (I believe they were called) Mastery levels in various skills, i.e. Melee and Dodge, and even finished the Really Big God Quest, but I still really didn’t perceive much of a boost in my character’s abilities or power level.
Also, I still feel a mild burst of irritation at the recollection of the great half-ogre conspiracy, which seemed for no other reason than to bum you out. You certainly couldn’t do anything about it. Bad form, I thought.

Indeed, I believe it was just one of many things the programmers never got around to finishing.
Let’s also mention the lush good/evil magic/techno scheme in the game. Ultimately, you save the world in the end, whether you’re good or evil, and the technological coolness dwindles as the game progresses. Again, stuff that was just never really finished.

Something worth doing, if you haven’t already: Fire up a SNES emulator and load a fan-translated FF 2 and/or 3 and start playing. The translations are so incredibly nicer, the game itself is worth playing all the way through again simply to read these high quality translations.

Already did that for VI (III), and I will agree wholeheartedly. They truly shed new light on already fantastic games.

Hey, I’ll have to check out the emulator madness one of these days. Yeah, they kind of rigged the trees, too, because basically the best way to get Mad Power in the game was to go magic, hands down, no real arguments. I mean, those were the attributes you could get massive raises to, anyway.
The thing that most bugged me was that the gnome dude was not only the nearly the toughest fighter in the game, but he was also of shiny good alignment just to tick off your cohorts. This despite telling you a long rambling explanation of kidnapping the old queen and making her a breeder til she died.
Anyway, haven’t played a computer RPG since. Hoorah tabletop! I do what I want!
